We had a fun photo shoot this past weekend. The puppies turned 5 weeks old on Saturday. Only three more weeks until they go to their new homes. It’s a good thing I’m keeping one as they are just too darn cute. I’ve narrowed down my decision, I will be keeping either Orange or Pink. Who will the lucky lady be?

Happy Saturday All!

Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

Last weekend on Fathers Day you might of seen my facebook pictures if your my friend on facebook, if your not my friend you can do so my searching for JoAnn Stancer (I think there is only one of me so easy to find). Since it was Fathers Day and Norman was a father to Nellie and Gambler I thought it would be nice to finally spread some of his ashes in my flower garden next to “his” blanket flower. I haven’t spread any of Norman’s ashes at my house since he has been gone. It’s nice to have him in my garden now. When I look at the flower I see Norman.

Gambler and Nellie, Norman’s kids. Norman is in the little cup.

Dad is that you?

Hi dad! It’s nice to see you again.

Dad is with us again.

Norman in is resting spot in my garden.

My friend Teri gave me a nice garden stake to put in my garden where I would put Norman’s ashes so I would never forget where he was. I put out the stake for the first time after I spread Norman’s ashes. What a lovely addition to my garden.

MK Deserves Some Puter Time~Happy Flag Day

Happy Flag Day!

MK’s Puter Time!

Today is also World Pet Memorial Day.

A TIME TO REMEMBER —————— They come into our lives for such a short time a time we wouldn’t trade not even for a dime Then before you know it the years have flown by and then all of the sudden we’re saying good-bye

It wasn’t that long ago we said our good-byes we held on to you tight as you closed your eyes Your spirit has flown home on the wings of a dove into God’s loving arm’s; in heaven above

Over the days we’ve shed many tears but the memories we have will live on for years We feel your presence and we know that your near you’re keeping us safe and calming our fear

We think about memories from years past when you were young and strong and ran so fast we remember all the great times that we all had how you always made us happy never made us mad

They were the best and happiest years we had we’ll always look back on them and never be sad We look forward to the time we’ll be together again and we thank the Lord for such a great friend

Now you run and play up in Heaven above cradled in God’s arms covered with his love Playing by the Bridge waiting for the day we come down thru the meadow to the bridge to stay

The love that you showed us we’ll never forget because to us you’re one very special pet You’re like a star in the dark of night always watching over us with the Lord’s light

So now we take time to remember our best friend who will always be with us even to the end We’ll always remember you the way you were one big lovable huggable pile of fur

Set Up And Test Dog~FitDog Friday

When you train for hunt test competitions you need to set up your training tests. You need to set up holding blinds (for throwers or remote launchers to hide behind), need to set up blinds (stations set up with just birds to practice handling skills yours and your dogs for blind retrieves) and set up decoys out in the field to distract the dog running. There are many different things you can use to set up a training test and many different ways to set up a training test. Since Nellie is retired from competitions but still hunts she doesn’t get to train with us on a regular basis since my car only holds two dogs so when we are at home training she gets to be the set up dog as well as the test dog because everyone needs a test dog to run first and make sure there are no “bugs” with the test you set up for the other dogs running. If there are now is the time to change the set up.

This day we were setting up blinds at the pond so Nellie got to walk along with carrying her bumper after she retrieved it from me throwing it.

Ok mom throw the bumper already! I will throw the bumper in the pond to give Nellie some swimming exercise which is great exercise for a older dog with joint issues.

She still likes to fly into the water.

Blazing a trail through the pee soup.

Nellie you need to leave the bumper there for the other dogs.

After we set up the blinds at the pond we set up a test in the marsh and Nellie got to be test dog for the live flyer we were shooting during this training test.

Here I go, here I go.

I got it.

Since Nellie is 10.5 years old we don’t want her to have to do difficult tests but she still needs to get out there and get some exercise and why not be set up and tests dog because there has to be one and she fits the job perfectly.

#FuelTheCure With Zuke’s Loving Life Contest & Fundraiser

Today we are joining Oz The Terrier & Sugar the Golden Retriever for their part in Zuke’s The Dog And Cat Cancer Fund. They are helping to spread the word by hosting a Loving Life Contest & Fundraiser. All I have to do is write a blog post about my dog loving life with #FuelTheCure in the post title. How easy is that! Very easy for me because Gambler is always loving life so it’s no problem to show him off and help raise money for the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund. Zuke’s will donate $5.00 for each blog post.

Gambler was loving life the weekend he got his first AKC Master Hunter pass. Here are some photos my friend Kim S took of him while out in the field doing what he does best, retrieving birds and loving life while doing it!

What do you think? Is Gambler loving life?

If you would like to #FuelTheCure check out the contest by stopping over to Oz’s or Sugar’s blog and join in the fun while helping raise money for a great cause.

Nothing But Norman #92

Happy Saturday All!

Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

This coming Wednesday the 22nd of April is Earth Day.

It is also a day that I will remember forever, it is the day my dad died. Maurice Ray Bradley passed on April 22, 1994 when I was just 23 years old. So I hold Earth Day close to my heart and give back when I can. My dad’s ashes are scattered on what used to be “his property” which is now my brothers and I. We have a memorial there because besides my dad’s ashes being there my mom’s are there also. We plant tree’s there to give back to the earth for what it has given to us. My parent’s may no longer be with me but they are aiding in the growth and life of the tree’s so I find comfort in this special place.

My dad had a Chesapeake for a hunting dog when I was growing up. Trigger was the first dog that I got to go hunting with. I knew at that time there was no other breed for me.

My dad nor mom never got to meet any of our chessies in person but they met them many times when I would take the gang to this special spot to hang out with my parents. This is my go to place when I just need a moment to myself. The dogs love going to this place as it is tucked away in a back field surrounded by marshes, woodlands, cows and other wildlife so there is much to smell, see and check out without the everyday hussle and bussle of life. A place where one can go and have the memories of a life that once was and try to feel that moment again.

On 10/16/13 a couple weeks before Norman passed we paid a visit to this special place, just Norman and I. He walked over and visited with my mom and dad, he walked around the field picking up sticks and hauling them around as that was one of his favorite things to do. He sniffed the scrub oaks, sniffed the pines took in all the great smells that this earth provides. We said our goodbyes and I told him he would rest here one day when I have the strength to let a part of him go.

I have a number of pictures from this day, these are just a few, I will share more another day. These are my most favorite pictures of Norman that I look back on often. He photographed so well this day that I will remember forever and wish that I had my buddy with me again to visit this special place together again. One day buddy we will visit this place again and walk next to each other once again. Hopefully not to soon though as I have many things I need to finish up on earth.

“It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth – and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.”

Gambler taste testing.

Glory taste testing.

Nellie taste testing.

The chews are somewhat hard, it took the dogs a fair amount of time to chew them up. They couldn’t just eat it down, they had to work at it which was nice. They loved the taste and wanted more right away.

The gang gives the SmartChips a A+ and 16 paws up.

Gambler loved them so much he had to help himself to more.

MK thinking these should be made for kitties.

SmartBones SmartChips are on sale right now with Chewy.com 12 pk bag $6.99 which is a 26% savings.
