Furminator Dual Brush @Chewy.com

Chewy White

Ding dong Chewy.com calling. We got our monthly sample from Chewy.com. Today we are sampling something non editable for once. With shedding season upon us I thought it would be great to try out and review the Furminator Dual Brush For Dogs. It says for dogs but you will see at the end of the post I tried it out on MK also, so not just for dogs anymore.

FURminator Dual Brush For Dogs

Furminator Dual Brush For Dogs comes with 2 types of brushes and a carrying/protective outer case.

A well groomed pet is a happy, healthy pet. But, there are many reasons that frequent visits to your pet stylist aren’t always possible. With FURminator’s new line of professional quality grooming tools, you can get near professional results at home.

Key Benefits

  • Helps remove mats, tangles and loose hair
  • Features a pin brush on one side and bristle brush on the other
  • Pin brush works on long coated dogs
  • Nylon bristle brush is an excellent all round brush that can be used on almost any coat type
  • Removes debris from short coated dogs
  • Finishes the coat and creates a natural shine for long coats
  • Designed to follow the natural contours of pet’s head and body

Isn’t this suppose to be food?

Of course when the Chewy.com box came in the mail, Gambler thought it was for him and it was something edible, he was sadly mistaken when he tried to eat it and it poked him.

Nellie enjoying the brushing.

Nellie has a thick wavy coat that is shedding something fierce now. The pin brush worked great at going through her thick coat grabbing all the hair that she was shedding out.

Nellie on top and Gambler on bottom.

The pin brush really made the dogs coat stand up looking really full.

Glory loving the soft bristle part of the brush for head brushing.

The soft bristle side of the brush worked great on the smooth not so long parts of the dogs like their head and legs.

The hair easily came out.

All the shed hair came out of the pin side of the brush very easily.

Dual brush, not just for dogs.

MK couldn’t be left out. The dogs were all getting brushed so she came running to find out what the fuss was about. She didn’t mind the brush at all so it’s not just a dog brush but a cat brush too.

Right now the brush is on sale for $9.94 a 48% savings over the normal cost of $18.99. What a great price for a brush that works well on long and short hair of dogs and cats.

Tuesdays Tail’s~Ben The Chessie At CRROW

BenInSnow

Pictures and information taken from CRROW’s website.

My name is Ben the Chessie  and I am an active Chesapeake Bay Retriever who is approximately 2 years old. I was a stray in central Illinois and came into rescue at the end of December, 2014  Here are some of the facts:

  • I love people! I love adults and older children. I’m so excited to see them and be pet! I should not be around small children or infants because I am too energetic.
  • I have so much energy that I can go for a 2 mile run and I only look slightly winded when we are done!
  • I am fine with cats and dogs.
  • I walk well on a leash and do not react to noise or odd things happening around me.
  • I will require a fenced yard since I was found as a stray.

I need some work on my manners as I am a bit of a grabber. I love to play fetch but am over zealous and try to get the toy before it is thrown. I am not good at dropping my toys or my treasurers. I am learning that “finder, keeper” does not always apply. My house manners are not great. I am very curious and like to get into everything so I am learning how to behave and what is appropriate. I am a quick learner but I need a patient and consistent teacher.

I am the happiest sweetest boy who would be happy with an active family!

Please contact CRROW and help find this boy his forever home.

Wordless Wednesday ~Norman Update

Ok so today has a couple of words as I want all my blog friends to know how well Norman is doing since his osteosarcoma diagnosis June 5th. He is doing so well I can’t believe it. He is only on Rimadyl for pain relief and he has a small, small limp. He is happy and even gets rowdy at times. We went to the lake last week for a swim and he loved it! I hope we have many more months like this.

Monday Mischief ~Gman & The Rug

When I come home and let the dogs out of the kennel each one of them usually has to grab something and carry around. It varies as to what they grab, usually whatever is laying around. Gman’s favorite thing to grab is the rugs laying in front of his kennel. He grabs them and runs outside with them. He then proceeds to run around the yard with one. Of course he leaves them lay so I need to go out and pick them up. Sometimes I will get a Roo Roo with the rug carrying. This trick is thanks to Norman as he is our first dog to do this and he passed his trait on to his kids and grand daughter. Norman will live on!

Monday Mischief ~Gman & The Truck

No animal was harmed during the taking of these photographs, the truck was not moving at the time.

DSC_0851DSC_0848DSC_0849DSC_0853DSC_0854DSC_0855

John’s truck is loud so the dogs hear it before it even turns on to our road. When they hear it they have to be mischievous and go down to the end of the driveway and wait for John to pull in. Usually he stops and opens his door and lets them jump in the front with him. This day Gambler jumped in the back looking for goodies when none were to be found he jumped up and in the front of the truck threw the open window.

Monday Mischief ~It’s not what your thinking

Today’s mischief happened yesterday at our last conformation show at the 2012 Premier. I had a junior handler handle Gambler and I handled Glory as she was still in season and I didn’t want anyone else to have to deal with that.

The junior handler took Winners Dog and Glory took Reserve Champion.

Gambler isn’t happy he won, he is sniffing my clothes.

Sunday’s Hunt Test

This past Sunday we took Gambler and Glory up to Manitowoc Kennel Club’s spring hunt test. Gambler was running AKC Senior’s and Glory was running AKC Junior’s.

This is how Gamblers test went down in Gamblers words:

A field trial judge known for his hard hunt test set up’s was judge for the test so mom let John run me because she didn’t want to mess up and wanted a pass. The first land series was a double, dead bird (memory bird) first thrown from the right 75 yard’s then flier from left 110 yard’s. I was fixed on flyer station then 2 black birds went past so I didn’t see the first bird down. I pegged the flyer then John lined me up for memory on a wing and a prayer I went out and pegged that one (and they thought I didn’t see it). I one whistled land blind on way back from blind a diversion bird went over my head. I went and picked that up no problem. The honor was great, I got called back for the water series. On to water. Water was right bird first on land, flyer to left on water my bird only went 5 feet from shore, I ran the bank jumped in and grabbed it…for the other dogs it went across pond so they had to swim. John turned and said to the judges “that was a cheaty mark, I don’t know any dog that wouldn’t of done what he did”. I then went after the memory bird then a feather caught my attention so I got off line as I swam to the feather then a fish jumped so I  looked at that then I  got handled to bird and stepped on it. The blind was out past a point then on land. I had a 10 whistle hack job but did the job. Then I came back pegged my mom and wouldn’t listen….after John took the bird from me he was trying to get me to sit and put the leash on me and I wouldn’t have none of it. I kept staring at mom and then couldn’t take it anymore I ran away from john and right up to my mom and gave her a big wet hug..luckily I was the last dog…I got my second pass!

DSC00157DSC00158

John handled Glory in her AKC Junior hunter test. She needed to do 2 single retrieves on land and then 2 single retrieves on the water. They did a great job. I was worried about Glory on the water as she has been getting confused on entering the water (I will release her, she runs to the water, jumps in and then comes back out and stares at me) so was a bit nervous if she was going to go in or not. She  ended up doing just that on the first water mark. John said he thought she was confused because the judge yelled out her number and John released her and she acted like she broke and she realized it and needed to come back until sent from John. Regardless he resent her and she jumped in got the bird and came back. Second mark went much better and she got her second Junior pass.

Some pictures of Glory’s water series.

Naughty Dogs

I could wait till Mischief Monday to post up these photos but I’m quite sure I will have more photos for that day. I went outside one day and this is what I saw.

2013-05-11 13.32.25

I’m thinking I found the culprit that likes to haul my dishes outside. Miss Glory!

2013-05-15 07.16.172013-05-15 07.16.44

Besides Glory hauling out tupperware outside Gambler decided to haul a pillow outside and proceeded to de-stuff it! Naughty, Naughty….and here I am taking photos of naughty boy instead of yelling at him!

DSC_1172DSC_1173

Gambler feels the need to pick up any clothes laying around and carry them around. John took off his sweatshirt when got home from work and Gambler picked it up and ran around with it roo’ing. So John put it on him because that must have been what Gambler wanted! Glory thought he looked really odd and didn’t quite know what was going on. Silly boy!

So that wraps it up for today, why don’t you hop on over to 2 Brown Dawgs see what their up to and grab the badge and join the hopping fun!

This is a Blog Hop!

Pink Whistle Society-PWS

The Pink Whistle Society

~The Pink Whistle Society was created in 2009 at an HRC Ladies Handler seminar in Wisconsin. These are informative and hands on  training weekends sponsored by HRC clubs across the nation and Canada to help women learn and build confidence with running in hunt tests with their dogs. It doesn’t matter what group of handlers you aspire to….we are all ladies, friends, relatives and husbands of ladies, that love their dogs, and fight breast cancer.  Our goal is to donate proceeds from the donations of the “Pink Gear” to the Hunting Retriever Club’s Foundation and the Cancer Society!  Together –  Best Friends for the Cure!!! ~

Here is a nice newspaper article about Deb West and The Pink Whistle Society.

The beginning of May Deb West, the founder of the PWS posted up on the PWS Facebook page that this years 4th Annual PWS poster was going to be of a chessie pup. She asked for members of the open group to post up their chessie puppy pictures. Of course I posted up several of Nellie’s puppies pictures from various litters along with one of Gambler and Marie. A few days later Deb contacted me and told me that they had decided to use “Glory’s” picture that I submitted as the basis of the 4th Annual PWS Poster. Words cannot describe how overjoyed I was to hear this news! What a honor that my picture let alone the puppy from Nellie’s last litter that I kept was the chosen girl for the poster!

Here is the original picture that I submitted. This was taken on my lawn when Glory was around 3 months old. She loved retrieving her pink bumper and laid down to take a break and she wasn’t letting anyone have “her” bumper.

Debbie Miller Stonebraker does such a fabulous job! She is the artist that has done the posters for the previous 3 years for the PWS. I have another painting of hers called “Thinking Pink” and she also painted a beautiful picture of Gambler and Marie for me. This drawing of Glory was done just after she broke a finger on her drawing hand! Thank you Debbie for doing such a beautiful job with my Glory girl!
