Nothing But Norman #45

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Project16 - Copy - Copy - Copy

Today we are attending a AKC Master Hunter retriever test with Norman’s son Gambler. This is the highest level of testing for AKC hunt tests. To do the tests in order and receive the titles on your dog you run and pass 4 Junior Hunter tests then you move up to running and passing 4 Senior Hunter tests then you move up to running and passing 5 Master Hunter tests. When we were running hunt tests with Norman many moons ago Norman ran his first Master Hunter test when he was 6 years old and received his title when he was 7 years old. Times have changed and we became more proficient in our training and are able to run Gambler in his first Master Hunter test a couple weeks after he turned 3 years old. Now we may not finish his title until he is 7 but hopefully he will do good and finish his title this year. If he doesn’t there are no worries and we will plug away at it next year. Norman was our first hunt test dog and our first Master Hunter. He made us so proud!

We started running Norman in AKC Junior Hunter tests when he was 6 months old, that is the youngest age you can start entering them in AKC tests. He passed 4 out of 5 tests for his title by the time he was 10 months old. That is pretty good for a youngster. Here is the photo of him holding his ribbons.

We are also joining up with The Pet Parade.

Hosted by: Rascal and RoccoJan’s Funny FarmBasil the Bionic CatBarking From The Bayou and Love Is Being Owned By A Husky.

Here is what Love Is Being Owned By A Husky (Jenna along with Melissa from Barking From The Bayou are the new co-hosts)  says about the hop: So please feel free to link up and party with us!
Parade you fav pet photo’s , stories , ANYTHING you want! The only rule is . . . .
There are no rules!
And that’s the way we like it! Who needs rules at a party anyhow?
BUT it is always a good idea to link back to your hosts, and maybe even give them a follow!

Also, this hop consists mostly of kitties , there are a couple doggies that are involved, but the majority are kitties, so one of the reasons Melissa and are now co hosting is to let you all know that this hop is DOG FURIENDLY as well!

    • Thank you for stopping by and the nice comments. I can’t take credit for all of Norman’s training, my husband and I trained him for his junior hunter title and then the advance work he was sent to a trainer. We now train our own dogs because we have come a long ways and learned so much.

  1. I hope Gambler does well this weekend and follows in the impressive tracks of his father, Norman. Those are some pretty big paws to fill but I’m sure he’s up to the challenge. It really looks like they both enjoy it so that is the important part!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend at your house, including a win, this holiday weekend 🙂

  2. Wow Norman!! Love him holding his ribbons, like father like son, Gambler will follow in Dad’s footsteps. Have a great weekend!

  3. Have you noticed that tests have changed over the years? That was the topic during our tests last weekend while talking to some long time testers. Even at the Junior level, they are so much more complicated. Both senior tests were meaty last weekend. The biggest thing that I noticed were breaking birds at Senior. I don’t think Thunder had any for any of the five tests he ran. We had them in 2 of three Senior tests this time around. I guess that is why we have to work more on Freighter’s sit. 🙂
