This weeks FitDog Friday exercise was pond fun. Of course we had our normal training on the pond for our upcoming hunt test with weekend with the Gman. Gman is entered into his first AKC Master Hunter test. This is the highest level test for AKC hunting retriever. After our training I let all three dogs out for some pond fun which entailed me throwing bumpers into the pond and the gang jumping in and swimming out to get them. They swim really hard when in competition to get one so this was great exercise. The also got exercise by running around the pond thinking if they did that they could jump in closer to the bumper and beat the other dogs there. Nellie is a great one for this. She is also a great one for getting a bumper and swimming to the other side of the pond, getting out and standing there guarding her bumper so the others can’t get it. This then becomes exercise for me and I have to truck around the pond to get over by her to throw the bumper again. It’s a back and forth around and around the pond for us all.

Isn’t funny how when we are trying to make sure they get their exercise, they usually make sure we get it too. Sounds like Nellie is keeping you well exercised … hahaha!
Enjoyed the pictures … it sure looks like they were having a blast.. Nothing better on a Spring day than having fun swimming at the pond.

I love watching them jump into the water. Maybe it comes from having dogs terrified of the water, but seeing the pure joy as they leap is such a wonderful site.

Fantastic shots..the dogs here love the dam..we have to have harnesses on them though as the depth and what lies beneath is a mystery! those bumpers are a great idea..we have been using cut up pool noodles as they are bright and float and when destroyed by their teeth are easily replaced..good luck with the competition 🙂 Fozziemum

Holy big splashes and swims! The whole gang is having fun! I love the photo of all three retrieving together. Too cute. Is it me…when you Chessies are wet it looks like some have thicker coats than others?!?!?

Fun! Shiner hasn’t been swimming in a long time. She likes swimming in the lake, but hates getting wet otherwise. Weird!

How fun! If it was fenced my sister Bailie and I would spend the whole day playing chase and jumping in and out of the pond, no bumpers needed. Great exercise too!

Oh, that looks so great! The photos are wonderful and show how much fun they are having. I wish we had a pond we could walk to. I can’t wait to take Sheba swimming….it is such great exercise for her with her arthritis. I’m hoping Luke will enjoy it as well.
