Dog fighting is a felony in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The ASPCA is committed to eradicating the blood sport. We have designated April 8 as the first National Dog Fighting Awareness Day to advance the conversation about dog fighting, and to encourage animal lovers across the country to take action against this brutal form of cruelty.

Please join the movement and take a stand. And stay tuned to ASPCA.org/blog for more information about this developing case.

  1. Dogfights are horrible and I can’t understand the people who like it. Many thanks for such an important post, I hope we all together can do something to stop this cruelty “sports”. I cross my paws for Hazel, I bet she would be the best addition to a funny family.

  2. What a great post! Hazel is lovely and I hope she gets a loving home so very soon. Dog fighting upsets me so much, I just don’t understand how any person can find the remotest pleasure in taking part in or watching it!
