This ‘N That Thursday

this-n-that-3

Today we are joining 2 Brown Dawgs for their This ‘N That Thursday’s blog hop!

This is what she has to say about the hop,

A little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

“This ‘N That Thursday is for anything you want!  Maybe you want to post about unrelated topics, or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post, or you have awards to share, or you have one long post…anything goes!  So grab the button and join the hop!”

I was going to wait until Norman passed to start a day of remembrance for him by posting up a picture of him once a week and dedicate that day to my soulmate. After some thinking about it I decided why wait, I need to start his day this week. I have been taking pictures of him and plan on taking as many as I can while he is still with us so I might be able to dedicate a day a week to him for many years to come. After talking to a blog friend when I was feeling low and tossing around what I was going to call his day she came up with “Nothing But Norman”. I love it so a big thanks and hugs go out to Jodi at Heart Like A Dog for coming up with the name of  Norman’s day. The name may change one day but for now it will stay. Here is the picture I came up with for the badge of his day. This picture was taken when he was at our trainers many moons ago (I believe back in 2003) I wanted a picture for his stud dog ad and this is what I got. This picture is on the door of my truck advertising Sand Spring and it was also picked as the breed profile picture of a Chesapeake on the Westminster Kennel Club website.  If I knew how to make a badge I would make a badge. Maybe one of you other clever bloggers could let me know how to make a badge. A big thank you also goes out to Linda at 2browndawgs for resizing it for me so it can be placed on my sidebar and still be able to read the writing on it. I thank both you gals for being so willing to help me out when I have blog questions.

Project16 - Copy - Copy1

Whatcha think? Norman’s day will be Saturday’s since I’m not doing a blog hop on Saturday and Saturdays were when we would most likely go hunting, training with our friends or went to hunt tests.

I dedicate Saturday’s to “Nothing But Norman”

You all know that Norman was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on June 5th. This past week a fellow chessie owner contacted me because another blogger and friend Tina at Misty Shores Chesapeakes gave her my link to the post I wrote about Norman having Osteosarcoma. Paulette over at Cape Cod Browndogs found out last week that her 11.5 year old female Chessy named Scout has Osteosarcoma also. She started a blog to write about her girl so she will have a remembrance of their time together until the end. I am glad she started a blog as I think it will be very therapeutic for her. I know writing about Norman and showing off his pictures to my blog friends has really helped me cope with what I am going through. If you have a moment hop on over and say hi and let her know you are there for her and Scout.

 Another Award

50000-award

Leah and Kirby over at Kirbysdawgblog so graciously gave me another award. I can’t thank them enough, what a really cool award.  I’m sure I am really far away from 50,000 hits but it’s very cool nonetheless. One day, one day baby I will be there.

The MY FAVOURITE THINGS AWARD was created by yours truly to celebrate a milestone of mine. That milestone would be fifty thousand hits to my blog. That’s right… fifty thousand big ones! Yoo-hoo! YOO-HOO!!!

MK thinks she is a dog and loves to play with their favorite little pheasant toy. This toy is as big as MK and she picks it up and carries it around. You can’t tell from this picture how big it is but it is big.

See how big the toy is now?

You best stay away from that trap little kitty. MK is giving that trap some of her own jaw action!

So that wraps it up for today, why don’t you hop on over to 2 Brown Dawgs see what their up to and grab the badge and join the hopping fun!

  1. That’s a great idea! Shiloh will have been gone 1 year in August. Maybe I will start posting pictures of her, but it still upsets me when I look at her pictures 😦

I wanted to tell you that Sheba did a post on how to make a badge. I followed those directions to make the badge for Tuesday’s Tails. Here is the link and if you need any help I would be glad to help you. http://www.shebaslifestory.com/2012/08/how-to-make-blog-button-for-your-blog.html#.UeflW1PJA8g Norman’s picture is beautiful!

Also, I don’t know if you would be interested but when I started my blog I exchanged links with a lady whose dog had osteosarcoma. Her whole blog is about her dog and how they dealt with it…food, medicines, all that stuff. If you are interested, that link is http://nikkisstory.com/#axzz2ZOxmlwv7 She has been on some radio shows talking about osteosarcoma and her site is very informative.

Last but not least, thanks for the award! I have been so bad about awards lately 😦 That is something I am going to have to work on this week…a post for the awards I have received and haven’t given out. That is on my list of to do’s!!!! Okay, this comment is long enough. Have a great Thursday!

    • Thank you, thank you Lisa! I am going to check out those links! Wow one year in August for the loss of Shiloh, I am so sorry! Everyone grieves differently and that is ok but sweetie you really should post pictures and story’s of her. I bet it will help you with missing you as she will be right there with you in the posts. (I say this all now and once Norman is gone it might hurt to much to look at his pics too :() Enjoy the award! Have a great day and thank you again for the links! Now go take a look at Shiloh and smile that you had that beautiful girl in your life!

  3. What a lovely way to remember Norman. I never knew that Norman was the breed profile photo on WKC’s site. That is so cool!

I think it is time that you visit my Inspire a Limerick page on my blog and then send me some fun things about Norman so we can write up a Limerick just for him! It can be a remembrance that will keep everyone smiling.

Oh! And thank you for such a lovely award. I will be sure to write about it soon.

    • oh Oz I have tears in my eyes now. A Limerick in remembrance of Norman would be such a excellent idea and I would love one. I have been planning and preparing and trying to get photo’s and videos ready for “that” day so this will just add to the specialness (I just made up that word) of Norman and his life. Thank you friend!

  4. I’m so glad you’re doing a weekly Norman post. 🙂 Here’s to many years left for your boy.

Okay, so what I really want to see are photos of your pheasants in the house. Seriously. MK is adorable – ADORABLE – and I love seeing her gnaw on a rusty steel trap. But pheasants. Please? PLEEEEAAASSE?!?

  5. I love the photo.

Thanks for the shout out, I’m glad I could help. That’s what is so wonderful about this blogville community, someone is always there no matter what. I’m hoping you have a long time with Norman and sharing some amazing photos.

I love little MK, and cats that think they are dogs. What’s better than that?

Congrats on your award, I like your attitude, someday you WILL hit that 50 thou mark. 🙂

  6. Gorgeous photo of beautiful Norman! Love your idea of celebrating Norman and his life with you NOW! You might want to think about joining the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop (you can join up at LifewithDogs.tv) I wish I’d celebrated my Lucy and Tucker this way while they were still with me.

  7. Love the idea of a day just for Norman. Leave it to Jodi to come up with a great title. No problem on the resize. I wish I was more clever than just resizing…lol. I have always liked that picture of Norman.

MK sure is a character. Congrats on your award. Well deserved!

  8. I totally feel where you are at right now, it hasn’t been quite 2 weeks since we lost JoeJo, and it’s very painful. And we are doing his remembrance on Saturday’s also on the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop… I hope you feel comfort on Saturdays with the posts. I know it is helping me a lot to write about him.

  10. I think it is wonderful that you are starting a day for Norman now, rather than waiting. It is a beautiful way to celebrate his life, and the time he has with you. 🙂

So sorry that another Chesse just got diagnosed with the same cancer. It’s an awful thing to have to face…

I do love the cheerful pics of MK…so cute that she’s playing with that trap (since it isn’t set, of course!).
