Monday Mischief ~Sandhill Cranes

Today’s mischief started out as a routine walk to the dam to do a little training with Gambler and Glory. We were on our way with the dogs out ahead of us. Glory grabbed a big stick and thought she had to carry that along with her and play keep away with Gambler. It was her stick and she wasn’t letting him get it.

Is there something behind me??

Is there something behind me??

Glory took a break from running and laid down with her stick. She had no idea there were friends behind her wondering what she was doing.

la la la just running amuck.

la la la just running amuck.

Gambler and Glory ran and ran and still had no idea the Sandhill’s were there.

Getting closer.

Getting closer.

It took awhile but Gambler finally spied the Cranes. He just stood there and watched them without moving.

Finally Gambler spies them.

Finally Gambler spies them.

The cranes couldn’t take us getting closer, they are beginning to get very nervous and thinking about flying away.

The cranes are getting scared.

The cranes are getting scared.

Gambler couldn’t take standing there any longer, off he went to see if he could catch a crane.

I can catch these big birds!

I can catch these big birds!

I don’t think the cranes like the dogs being mischievous and checking them out. They could only take it so long before they got up and flew then Gambler could only take it so long before he chased them. He went quite a distance before I called him back.
